September 2008 : London Guitar Night
From Total Guitar magazine: "Four of the finest contemporary acoustic guitarists in the world are coming together for one night in London. Jon Gomm, Thomas Leeb, Tony Cox and Michael Berk will all play at The Roebuck, Borough, on Tuesday November 18th from 8pm." However, the gig has now sold out! But don't worry, we have decided to put on a second night at the same venue on November 17th - tickets available here:

September 2008 : Leeds Guitar Night
After the success of last years event, this year on November 24th Jon Gomm is hosting another night in his adopted hometown where you'll see and hear the acoustic guitar played every way you could imagine and possibly more! We have a massive contrast in the lineup this year - the amazing Thomas Leeb, a youtube smash hit, who Jon met recently on the road and has since travelled with in Europe, and Brendan Croker. When he was 11, Jon's dad first took him to watch Mr Croker play, and in the (many) years following they've ended up performing together numerous times in numerous countries.

Featuring....

Thomas Leeb www.thomasleeb.com
California-based, Austrian guitar maestro Thomas Leeb sprung to fame in the UK when his seemingly impossible tunes were transcribed in a national magazine. His tunes are beautiful melodies built on irresistable grooves. "I was his teacher for about five minutes and then I heard him play." - Eric Roche

Brendan Croker www.brendancroker.com
Bluesman and member of the Notting Hillibillies, Brendan has worked with many of the greats including Mark Knoppler, Eric Clapton, and Chet Atkins. "He is a world-class songwriter" - Andy Kershaw “Brendan Croker is a genius” - The Independent

Jon Gomm
Leeds-own guitar virtuoso, Acoustic Magazine calls him “One of the world’s most successful, gifted and inspirational guitarists”. Best known for his extraordinary technique which encompasses every way of playing a guitar imaginable, he has been dropping jaws and tingling spines with his music around Europe this year.

Tickets are available from www.WeGotTickets.com/event/36918

April 2008 : Johnny Winter Support
Having already gigged with a couple of my guitar heros this year in Michael Schenker and Nick Harper, I'm very excited to be opening for Texan blues/rock GOD Johnny Winter, at the wonderful cinema/venue Holmfirth Picturedrome on May 6th. More info on the gigs page

March 2008 : Hometown gig details
I've arranged a line-up of my dreams for April 26th at The Brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park, Leeds. Even if you can't make the gig you should check out my very special guests for the night: Eureka Machines - massively entertaining melodic acoustic rock, laden with harmonies. I had to have the smile surgically removed from my face after I saw them! And Pete Wright, who has opened for me before - a writer of that rare thing - wonderfully uplifting melancholia. Tickets are available at a bargain £4 from WeGotTickets.com

Feb 2008 : York gig date change
Because of the Italian tour being slightly later than we'd expected, the gig at The Black Swan in York has been moved from March 16th to March 30th. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Xmas 2007 : new video, new album track for mailing listers, more news...
But firstly, apologies for not having Curses And Blessings (the new CD) ready in time for Christmas. I've just been snowed under with gigs, so I'm keeping things a bit quieter for early '08 so it'll be done SOON! I promise. It'll be launched with great fanfare and no expense spared, so don't worry - when it's ready, you'll know.

New album track for mailing list only!
I've uploaded the album version of live favourite "Waterfall" for you all to hear, but you need to sign up to the mailing list to hear it - just fill in the form opposite or email us and we'll send you the link!

New video - "Gloria"

I've been reluctant to upload this one cos I made a few mistakes (especially the guitar fill at the startof the second verse! Mmmm, jazz) and I was a bit ill so I look like death and sound a bit bunged up. But hey, that's showbiz. The song is fun country waltz about a chav girl I went out with when I was 18. Some of the lyrics might go over your head if you're not British. ("Bensons" are a brand of cigarettes!)

Gigs for '08...
Not the usual zillions of gigs to tell you about - please take a look at the Live Dates page. The highlight has to be the gig opening for Nick Harper at City Varities in Leeds. Nick is one of my heroes, and a huge influence on my music, and the venue is a wonderful Victorian Music Hall theatre. I'm spoiling you with this one, folks.

If you need convincing about whether I'm worth coming to watch, here's a review from this month!

Also, I'm back on TV on Channel M on January 24th. If you'd like to request a song for me to play, just email or post it on the forum.

Cheers for now, and Happy Xmas/Hanukkah/Eid/Winter Solstice/New Year,
Jon x

August 2007 : Takamine Guitars Tour
Mailing list readers will already be aware that Jon is now officially endorsing Takamine guitars and is the proud owner of a lovely new guitar called Buffy (photos of Jon with Buffy will be added to the site soon)

To promote this new partnership, Jon is taking his guitar on tour around Sound Control stores this month. All the dates are listed on the Live Dates page, and some have recently been changed so please check again if you've already made plans!

June 2007 : T-shirts now on sale!
Sorry it's taken so long to get the T-shirts ready for sale online - every time I get a new batch printed they sell out at gigs! I've had a few hundred extra printed now so we should be OK for a while...
Click here to go to the T-shirt Boutique!
One colour, lots of sizes, £12.50 each, and that includes shipping to anywhere in the world!

P.S. the new album now has a title...

May 2007 : Leeds Guitar Night 2007 announced
Friday July 6th 2007, 8pm @ Brudenell Social Club 33 Queens Road, Leeds, LS6 1NY
LEEDS GUITAR NIGHT featuring Jon Gomm, Amrit Sond and Michael Berk.

I put this line-up on 2 years ago (it seems like yesterday though, crazy). And Amrit and Michael have not played in Leeds since then, which is scandalous, so I'm doing it again.

Tickets are in Jumbo Records now, just call them on 0113 2455570, and please tell your friends/mums/dads/pets.

Amrit Sond is, in my opinion, one of the best guitar players ever, and certainly one of the few truly unique ones. He is an artist of massive talent and vision. He has a Grammy, which, while Britney Spears has one I think, is still a massive achievement.

Michael Berk is a virtuoso of incredible versatility - expect each piece to not only be musically inspiring, but also an expert lesson in how to play slide, tapping, rock, fingerstyle or blues guitar.

And also I'm playing! Yay.

March 2007 : Gig date changes and cancellations
Jon's gig on March 23rd at the Great Northern in Keighley has just been cancelled by the venue - no reason has been given. This is a first! Feel free to phone them and complain: 01535 602 318.

The gig at Llandeilo Civic Hall on March 31st has also been cancelled because the venue forgot to apply for their new drinks license. Extraordinary but actually true. Hopefully Jon will be playing there later in the year.

The gig at The Jamhouse in Birmingham has had to be changed (again, by the venue) from April 17th to June 5th.

Sorry for any inconvenience! It's a pain for us, too....

Jan 2007: We need to talk
The new Jon Gomm official forums have just been created!

CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE FORUM

Please feel free to ask any questions, post your thoughts and messages, or just say hello to get the ball rolling! They are so empty - let's have some ice-breaking!
N.B. You don't have to sign up to read or post messages (although signing up allows you to do more stuff).

Jan 2007: Street Teamers needed! Get exclusive mp3s and stuff
I will be doing lots of gigs and a new album this year, and I really really need some HELP!

If you would like to help me by sticking up posters or putting out flyers in your hometown or university, then please send us an email to info@jongomm.com saying you'd like to join my Street Team. Make sure to put your name and address and email address. Then when a gig comes up in your town, or when the album is released (whichever comes first) we'll send you some stuff to advertise it.

In return for offering to help me, you'll get some cool stuff every now and then, like:

> free and exclusive mp3's of brand new tracks emailed to you
> guestlist for your local gig
(if possible and applicable - it can't always be done I'm afraid!)
> a warm feeling that you are one of life's good guys

Best wishes, Jon x
P.S. If you are already a Street Team member, please feel free to sign up again as we lost about 12 members details in a computer meltdown. (the other 150 or so are still intact)

Jan 2007: New album being recorded now!
You may have noticed an uncharacteristically small number of gigs listed for Jan/Feb 2007. You might have thought Jon was getting lazy, or having a well-earned rest. But NO!

He's been busy recording the new album, to be released this year. Soon. It doesn't have a title yet, although there are a few ideas (the favourite so far is "Heart Murmurs"). If you have an idea for a title email it to us! The funniest suggestion so far is from Chris Woolford, who suggested "While My Guitar Gently W@nks". Proper suggestions are also welcome.

The track-listing for the new album is as follows (in no particular order!)

Waterfall (the one with the verse in Urdu)
Temporary (the slow one)
Afterglow (the jazzy one)
Rescue Song (the love song)
Weather Machine (the scary one about war)
Gloria (the country ballad)
Wake Up (the instrumental)
Surrender (the new one that no-one's heard)
Loveproof (the sad one)
Anesthetic (the funk-metal one)
What's Left For you? (the one about the man on the train)

Hope you're all getting excited!

Jan 2007: Jon on TV!

November 2006: Free gig in Leeds announced - SUPPORT ACT NEEDED!
"December 12th will be a cold and dank pre-Christmas Tuesday night on Kirkgate in Leeds. Only the trundle of trains over the shadowy arches will break the silence. You might think.

But no. I am playing a FREE gig. Yes it will be FREE ENTRY.
At the Duck and Drake, purveyors of fine beer and guiness-fuelled poets, and one of the best pubs in Leeds. This gig will have an amazing atmosphere..

I don't want to play for 2 hours+, so I will need a support act to play 30 minutes of their best tunes to a packed house.

Please send me a link to a website or myspace page that has some tunes on it, so I can have a listen. Then I'll pick my favourite and get in touch! I feel like Simon Cowell!

Good luck, I'm looking forward to hearing you!
Jon "

Please either email us at info@jongomm.com with a link to your webpage with songs on it (don't email us mp3 files!), or if you have myspace then just send us a message at myspace.com/jongomm.

September 2006: Lots of new videos online!
Sorry for the lack of news over the summer - festival madness took it's toll!

I recently discovered that videos from my Press Pack had been uploaded to Youtube - 4 in total (including the 2 already on my website). I was a bit surprised at first, as I didn't know how people had got hold of them! But I decided as there was only one more song left from that video shoot, I might as well upload it myself and complete the set!

So here you go: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jon+gomm

Please post your comments on Youtube and give me lots of 5-star ratings! And tell your friends....

April 2006: The Spring Mailout

The filming went well, the crowd made plenty of noise at all the right times (thanks!)
